Julong spud carriage is composed of two spuds (main spud and auxiliary spud). The main spud and the spud carriage are located at the notch of the dredger stern, and the auxiliary spud is located at the left or right pontoon stern.
During a dredging cycle, the main spud is inserted into the soil for positioning, and then the relative movement between the spud and the dredger pontoon is achieved by the pushing device located between the spud carriage and the pontoon. Since the spud is fixed to the soil bottom, the dredger pontoon moves forward relative to the spud The dredging operation in fan shape is achieved by the operating the left and right swing winches and the anchor cables while the main spud is the rotation center. When the main spud is at the extreme end of the pontoon, the dredger can no longer move forward.
Then the auxiliary spud should be inserted into the soil for positioning of the dredger. At the same time, the main spud is raised and reset to the initial position relative to the pontoon. Then insert the main spud and raise the auxiliary spud, thus the next dredging cycle begins. The spud carriage has greatly improved the dredging efficiency.
